The perfect daughter, or the perfect liar?
Throughout this book the reader is kept guessing as to whether Jess is a reliable narrator or not – she’s not even sure herself. Her mother is an unpleasant woman whose character will stay with me a long time. Lots of wonderful twists and turns as Jess’s past is gradually revealed. Very cleverly written book – a wonderful debut and I look forward to the next book from this talented author.
She loves you, she loves you not…
I really enjoyed this, having already read Alex’s first novel I was waiting for this one to be released, and it didn’t disappoint! Great storyline, and, as my husband is agoraphobic and suffers extreme panic attacks, it also helped give me added insight into the condition in a way that he’s not been able to despite being together many years. So it had that added bonus for me as well! But putting that aside, great plot, great characters, and a damn good read! Five stars from me.
‘I had such an ominous feeling of uncertainty as I turned the pages. It was tense, engrossing and twisty! Loved it’ Noelle Holton
‘From the first page, the tension is relentless, never letting up, and the suspense is maintained to the very end.. It is a story of the power of human need, the damage it can do, and the struggle to free oneself of its tentacles. Lauren – the good patient – is complex and completely believable. The best book I’ve read in a long time. Highly recommended’ Michael Stanley
